The last burlesque theatre in America closed in Kansas City in 1969, following the vast social changes. When full nudity could be seen on Broadway in musicals such as Hair, the tease had dropped out of favor, but only momentarily.

Stripping and burlesque are both variations on the theme of removing clothes in a public space and making it a show. Burlesque, of course, with Gypsy Rose Lee's monologues, and the conceptual art of today, can be broader in form, incorporating a variety of theatrical styles.
A good performance is a good performance whether it is on the burlesque stage or the club stage, and I love all kinds of stripping and striptease!
